A card can be replaced as many times as a player wishes (at a rate of once per turn), but once a new card joins the face-down group, it may not be looked at again. If the player opts to replace a card, they turn the card face-up onto the discard pile, and place the new card face-down in its place. If they choose, they may discard this card, or use it to replace any one of their 4 face-down cards (keeping in mind that 2 of those cards remain unknown). The player to the left of the dealer then starts by drawing a card either from the stockpile or the discard pile. They may only look at two, and only once for the whole game, so it is important to memorize them. A single card is turned face-up in the middle of the table to start a discard pile, and the remainder of the deck is placed next to it as a stockpile.Īt the start of play, each player looks at exactly two (2) of their cards.
